Andy Murray will kick off his 2021 season in Florida. The Briton has obtained an invitation to the Delray Beach tournament which will serve as preparation for the Australian Open.
Gradually, the tennis player recovery program is taking shape. While the Australian Open will only start on February 8, there will be several tournaments to prepare for the first Grand Slam of the season. To ramp up before arriving in Melbourne, Andy Murray will go through the United States.
It is in Florida that the Briton will play his first tournament of the year 2021. The 33-year-old player, now 122nd in the ATP rankings, has obtained an invitation to the Delray Beach tournament. He will try to win a tournament there for the first time since 2019.
After his incredible 2016 season during which he was world number 1, the native of Glasgow has only been crowned twice (Dubai in 2017, Antwerp in 2019) because of his hip problems. Currently engaged in several exhibitions, Andy Murray will have the opportunity to move forward during this ATP 250 tournament which is scheduled from January 7 to 13.

John Isner, Kei Nishikori or Milos Raonic will also participate. The same week, the ATP circuit will also start on the Antalya side. Matteo Berrettini, David Goffin, Fabio Fognini but also Frenchman Benoit Paire will launch their season in Turkey.
For the other tournaments planned before the Australian Open, the identity of the participants has not yet been revealed. As a reminder, it is in Melbourne that the ATP circuit will settle for more than a month with three tournaments including the ATP Cup and the ATP 250 from Adelaide which has been relocated to ramp up before the first big slam of the year 2021.
