The initiative launched by the Haut-Garonnais club has met with great success. A first wall in the name of donors has been erected and two more will be created.
A successful initiative. At the beginning of May, when professional clubs were facing major financial difficulties due to the health crisis, Didier Lacroix, the president of Stade Toulousain, had launched a “Support Wall”. The idea of this project was to offer supporters to support their club by purchasing a brick, numbered and personalized with the name and first name of the donors, which would then be affixed within the walls of the Ernest-Wallon stadium. Red, black or white bricks sold for € 30 or € 150.

Supporters of the Rouge et Noir have joined in mass in this initiative, since more than 19,500 people took part in this operation, reveals La Dépêche du Midi. This “Support Wall” was erected within the Stade Ernest-Wallon enclosure from the end of November. The Haut-Garonnais club had collected, in August, nearly 1.3 million euros in this operation. This tidy sum will not be used to pay the players of the Stadium, but will finance the club’s endowment fund.
Actions funded for 2 years
What Didier Lacroix, the Toulouse president explained: “These are quite large sums, which are collected by the Stade Toulousain endowment fund. Its role will be to finance training, the association, the training center, all of the CSR actions (“Corporate social responsibility”, i.e. the taking into account by companies of the environmental, social and ethical impacts of their activities, Editor’s note) and all charitable actions, notably with the association “Heart in melee”, which has as its main theme childhood. This endowment fund will therefore finance these three major axes. ” The substantial sum will make it possible to finance these various actions for two years.
But, faced with such success, Stade Toulousain does not intend to stop there. New bricks are still on sale and two other “Support walls” will be built within the Ernest-Wallon enclosure. Proof of the immense popularity enjoyed by the most successful club in French rugby (20 Brennus shields, 4 European Cups).
