Spurs-Pelicans postponed after San Antonio played Wizards originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington
The San Antonio Spurs matchup against the New Orleans Pelicans, originally scheduled for Monday night, has been postponed due to health and safety protocols, the NBA announced in a statement.
Neither the Spurs nor the Pelicans have the minimum of eight players required to play due to ongoing coronavirus contact tracing, according to the statement.
The news is especially alarming for the Wizards, as they played the Spurs just one day earlier, a 121-101 San Antonio win.
Washington’s loss to San Antonio was the Wizards’ first game in over two weeks, as six of their contests were postponed due to a coronavirus outbreak within the organization where reportedly seven players tested positive for the virus.
The Wizards are expected to play next on Tuesday night, facing former Wizards star John Wall and the Rockets in Houston. The following day, Washington is scheduled to play the Pelicans.
