Thanks to his victory on the lawn of Bayern Munich, a few weeks after that acquired in Barcelona, PSG has entered a very closed circle.

This time, the success brought back from Bavaria is more of a hold-up than a show of force, but the Parisians nonetheless beat the European champions in their den. A victory (2-3) which puts them in a strong position before the return match on Tuesday at the Parc des Princes.

Thanks to this victory in Munich, PSG has also consolidated its place in the annals of French football. The first French team to win at Bayern in the knockout phase, the Rouge et Bleu are also the first French team to string together two away wins in the knockout phase since Saint Etienne during the 1975-76 season. The Stéphanois had indeed started their journey to the final with victories in Copenhagen and with the Rangers.
PSG is also only the third French team to succeed in such a sequence. Before Saint-Etienne, it is the Reims stadium who had lined up two consecutive away wins in the 1958-59 season, respectively against the Northern Irishmen of Ards and the Finns of Helsinki.
