Widely beaten in Game 2, Milwaukee used their first home encounter to beat Brooklyn 86-83 and come back to 1-2 in the Eastern Semi-Final. In the West, Utah now leads 2-0 after their 117-111 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers.
As in Game 2, Milwaukee scored 86 points, but this time it’s a victory for the Bucks against Brooklyn! Beaten by 39 points in their previous meeting (125-86), the Bucks took their revenge by winning by three (86-83), and this allows them to return to 1-2 in this series, and thus avoid the 0-3 that no NBA team has ever managed to recover in the history of the playoffs in seven games. Milwaukee did not come far from defeat, however, because at 1’23 from the end, Brooklyn was still leading 80-83. But a lay-up from Khris Middleton (82-83), then another from Jrue Holiday (84-83) eleven seconds from the buzzer, and two free throws from Milddleton (86-83) to finish sealed the victory of the Bucks, while Durant missed the 3-point equalizer shot on the gong.
In the end, this victory is rather deserved for the franchise of Wisconsin, which led for the vast majority of the match thanks to a strong start (+21 at the end of the first quarter), before seeing the Nets come back in the last quarter (the score remained at 74-70 for 2’15), and even pass in front (80-83). This game between the two best attacks of the regular season ended with a small score, but that didn’t stop Khris Middleton from finishing with 35 points and 15 rebounds, and Giannis Antetokounmpo with 33 points and 14 rebounds. Opposite, Kevin Durant scored the last nine points for the Nets and finished with 30 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Kyrie Irving added 22 points and 5 rebounds. Sunday will be Game 4, still in Milwaukee.
Mitchell and Gobert wear Jazz
Sixth victory in a row for Jazz! Since losing at home to Memphis in the very first play-off game of the season, Utah has been winning steadily, and the Salt Lake City franchise is now leading 2-0 in their series against the Clippers. The Jazz won 117-111 at the end of a match where they were only led for eleven seconds, in the middle of the last quarter (99-101). Led by Donovan Mitchell to 27 points in the first half, Utah immediately took the lead, and the gap continued to increase until midway through the third quarter, when it reached +21.
Then the Clippers returned to the match, took the lead, before breaking into the money-time, where they conceded a crippling 9-0, including two 3-point shots from Royce O’Neale and Joe Ingles. In the end, Donovan Mitchell finished with 37 points (15 of 29 on shots including 6 of 12 at 3 pts) and was once again the artilleryman of the Jazz. But Utah also owes its victory to its best defender in the League, Rudy Gobert, who finished with 13 points and especially 20 rebounds, his new career record in the play-offs. Opposite, the Clippers were able to count on 29 points from Reggie Jackson, 27 from Paul George (plus 10 rebounds and 6 assists) and 21 from Kawhi Leonard. But once again this season, the last few minutes have been fatal to them. As in the first round, the Clippers are therefore led 2-0, but unlike the series against Dall
