At the same time, things went much less well for Arsenal, held in check by Slavia Prague (1-1) at the Emirates Stadium. Abort awkward in the finish, like Alexandre Lacazette (62nd, 66th), the Gunners believed they made the difference by Nicolas Pepe, author of a superb goal on a deep pass from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (1-0, 86th). But in the process, the Czechs equalized on a corner by Tomas Holes (1-1, 90th + 4). Arsenal will need to score at least once in the second leg in Prague to qualify.
Ajax hold against Roma
In the other two quarter-finals, Villarreal also took a small option by winning on Dinamo Zagreb (0-1) thanks to his home scorer Gerard Moreno (44th sp). Finally, it was hot between theAjax and theAS Rome. The Dutch had the game in hand after Davy Klaassen’s opener, at the conclusion of a magnificent one-two with Dusan Tadic (1-0, 39th). But after the penalty missed by Tadic (53rd), Roma took advantage of a blunder by Ajax goalkeeper to equalize on a free kick from Lorenzo Pellegrini (1-1, 59th), before snatching a happy victory over a powerful volley from Roger Ibanez (1-2, 87th).
