Montpellier is again the dolphin of PSG. By taking the best from Istres in a late match of the fifth day of Lidl Starligue (26-34), the Héraultais returned to Aix.
The crossover between Pays d’Aix and Montpellier continues. During the holidays, the two teams will share second place in the Lidl Starligue ranking. This Tuesday, the Héraultais took advantage of a late match in Istres to come back to the level of PAUC and become the dolphin of PSG again thanks to a better goal difference (26-34). It was thanks to a controlled second period that Melvyn Richardson’s partners outclassed the Istreans. In front from the fifth minute of play, the MHB took off after the locker room. If at the break, there was only one goal (15-16), 15 minutes later, Yanis Lenne offered a lead of ten goals in Montpellier (46th, 19-29). The international winger was his team’s top scorer with five goals. During this strong time in Hérault, Kevin Bonnefoi notably distinguished himself.
16 saves for Kevin Bonnefoi
The MHB goalkeeper made 16 saves during this match. He still struggled to stop the duo Andrea Parisini (6 goals) – Torben Petersen (5 goals) who scored almost half of Istres’s goals. Unfortunately for the Provencals, it was not enough to end a series of games without a win which now stands at four. It is now time for the winter break for both teams. Montpellier will pass it with PSG in the sights while Istres will need to find solutions to quickly distance himself from the red zone.
