Contrary to what has been reported by much of the sports press, Erling Haaland’s departure clause will not be valid until 2022.
Sparkle since his arrival at Borussia Dortmund in January 2020, the Norwegian striker continues to impress this season in the Bundesliga as well as in Champions League. Author of a double against Sevilla, this Wednesday in the round of 16 first leg of European competition, the 20-year-old center forward has once again revived rumors about his future. In the viewfinder of several European leaders including the real Madrid, FC Barcelona and Chelsea, Erling Haaland is expected to bring in big bucks at BVB.
With a departure clause of 75 million euros, therefore very favorable to a future buyer, the Norwegian prodigy could finally stay one more year in Germany. According to Fabrizio Romano, journalist specializing in the transfer window, and Christian Falk, football editorial director of Bild, this clause will not be effective until the summer of 2022. If the many contenders by Erling Haaland want to afford the services of the Norwegian from the next transfer market, and they would be few in this case, they will have to take out the checkbook in order to convince the management of Borussia Dortmund.
