11.40am The covers are back on but the good news is we haven’t lost any overs as of now. Thirty minutes have been added to the second session and ten to the final.
11.30am The covers are being removed. 11.45am restart if there is no more rain, Gnasher informs. The players are practising near the boundary line.
Taiyeb Zahir: “@Ankit I agree with you. These new players seem so likable. Shubmann Gill also fits that card I guess.”
Tom : “As a good Victorian Shane Warne often likes to point out that the Sydney test loses more time to rain than most grounds in World cricket “
Mukunth: “Don’t they call it the Australian summer? Or is this a Sydney special? It did impact the last match between the same sides here. ” — Oh, I remember bringing you drop-by-drop updates on the last day.
There’s been a lot of debate around Mayank Agarwal’s exclusion after two Tests. Head over to the Live Report to have your say in the poll about it.
11.23am “Fourth umpire Claire Polosak has an umbrella up…drizzle back in the air. Main cover hauled back across the pitch,” pings Gnasher.
dikshit: “Given the forecast, I think it was good toss to lose for India. These on and off conditions help bowlers to take necessary rest and batsmen need to build their focus again after break. So win-win for India.”
Louis: “Are they allowed to shorten the lunch break from 40 minutes as opposed to moving it if there are significant delays? Seems a bit silly to have that set in stone. ” — Not sure if they can shorten it. Anyway, we are not there yet.
Jack: “Its 1:20am here in Germany. Do you recommend me going back to sleep?.” — Not really as we are expecting play to resume any moment
11.15am Gnasher once again with good news: It has now stopped and the groundstaff are starting to mill around the covers, although there appears a more substantial band of showers just to the south of the city so not sure how long the gap will be. Could be a bit of a on-off few hours. Umpires coming out and covers coming off
Ankit: “How come all young Aussies seem to be very likeable characters- Marnus, Green and now Pucovski, almost you end up rooting for them. How unlike Australian :(“
Vaibhav: “With interruptions due to shower, It may not be a bad thing to loose the toss for India.”
Piyush: “It could be a blessing that India is fielding first and can take advantage of start and stop play to get the wickets. The pitch looks pretty docile otherwise where taking wickets could be a pain.”
11.10am And the rain has almost stopped. So not long before we resume.
michael: “the radar has the rain on/off for around 45min before it stops completely”
Ajay Rana: “And now it’s raining here too !!”
Arun Shivashank: “May be will start writing a book on “How to get your comments published for Dummies” 🙂 “
Gnasher has an update on the weather. There is a line of showers coming up from the south. Today was the day with the highest chance of interruptions. The forecast for the next four days is good.
11.05am And the drizzle has arrived, forcing players off the ground. The hessian has been brought on to cover the pitch. We hope it’s just a passing shower.
Ajay Rana: “I live in Sydney CBD about 5km away from SCG and it’s sunny here”
