Last step before the Tokyo Olympics, the final phase of the Nations League of volleyball will be approached by the Blues with a group enlarged to 23 players by Laurent Tillie.
Laurent Tillie intends to do a large workforce review. Barely returned from Japan, where he led the Panasonic Panthers in the final of the local championship, the coach of the French men’s volleyball team intends to give himself all the means to end his nine seasons at the head of the Blues. Organized in Rimini from May 28 to June 27, the final phase of the Nations League of Volleyball (VNL) will offer the staff of the Blues the opportunity to see as many players as possible, the Habs having to play no less than fifteen games in just a few less than four weeks before the semi-finals and the final scheduled for June 26 and 27.
To this end, it is a list of 28 players that has been unveiled by the national coach, who will give way to Bernardinho at the end of the next Olympic Games. Indeed, the receptionist of Toulouse Pierre Derouillon and his sharp teammate Théo Faure, the passers Léo Meyer, who evolves in Nantes-Rezé, and Thomas Gill, coming from Montpellier, the Narbonnais central Moussé Gueye as well as the Parisian libero Benjamin Diez make their first appearance within the France group for this 2021 edition of the VNL.
Both absent for the Olympic Qualifying Tournament disputed by the Blues in January 2020, Al-Arabi sharp Stephen Boyer and Piacenza striker-receiver Trévor Clévenot are back for the Olympic Games. A group that will be gathered from May 12 in Mulhouse but the players will arrive in two waves, on May 12 and then on May 17 to allow everyone to have a rest period at the end of their respective seasons in the club.
