The Los Angeles Lakers took advantage of Christmas to beat Dallas for their first victory this season. Brooklyn thanks to his duo Kevin Durant – Kyrie Irving and the Clippers with a double-double from Nicolas Batum have chained a second success.
After Miami’s victory against New Orleans as an aperitif, the NBA offered real offensive orgies to celebrate Christmas. Giannis Antetokounmpo (15 points, 13 rebounds, 46.7% on the line) finished in the double-double but he still struggled on free throws in Milwaukee’s large victory over Golden State (138-99). With an outside address at half mast (10/45), the Warriors had no chance against the Bucks despite an already interesting Stephen Curry – James Wiseman duo.
For the Californian franchise, the inaugural road trip to the East is really complicated. In this Eastern conference, Brooklyn is already asserting itself as the favorite. The duo Kyrie Irving – Kevin Durant met expectations to lead the Nets to victory against Boston (123-95). Long balanced, this match changed after half-time. A 13-4 in favor of partners Timothé Luwawu-Cabarrot at the end of the third quarter relegated the Celtics to more than ten points. In 33 minutes, Irving and Durant have scored more than half of their team’s points: 68.
Successful Christmas in Los Angeles
Among the Lakers, it is the duo Anthony Davis – LeBron James who distinguished themselves to beat Dallas (138-115) and forget the inaugural defeat against the Clippers. The purple and gold franchise took the lead in the first quarter and never came back behind. The gap has even increased with players from the bench including Montrezl Harrell, the best sixth man last season who scored 22 points.
On the Clippers’ side, the victory against Denver was collective with five players over 12 points (121-108). Among them, Nicolas Batum. The French spent 36 minutes on the floor, his first match over 35 minutes since March 2019, to finish in a double-double. The native of Lisieux has compiled 13 points and 10 rebounds. A contribution that enhanced the performance of Kawhi Leonard (21 points) and Paul George (23 points) against a Nikola Jokic once again far too alone. He only missed one rebound at the Serbian pivot to become the ninth player in NBA history with the most triple-doubles.
