We were promised a Roland Garros unlike any other. We were not disappointed. And we hope that it will be forever unseen.
The FFT had to organize its Grand Slam so as not to jeopardize its economy and that of world tennis. She did it. Mission accomplished. Willy-nilly. In early July, the organizers of the tournament – postponed to the fall due to the pandemic – dreamed of welcoming 20,000 spectators per day. Two months later, faced with the deterioration of the health situation, they had to revise their ambitions downwards. The public being limited to a maximum of 1000 people drawn daily… Roland-Garros 2020, it was of course the thirteenth title for Rafael Nadal Porte d’Auteuil, the amortizations of Ugo Gaston, hurricane Iga Swiatek, winner of the women’s tournament, it was also and especially unfortunately a sad atmosphere, reinforced by the gray and the autumnal cold, with so little life in the stadium and the alleys.
