Fabian Delph has received over a thousand messages regarding the minor sexual abuse case against an Everton player. But it is not he who is suspected by investigators.
It is a rather sordid affair, which has already made a collateral victim. On Tuesday, Fabian Delph received more than a thousand social media messages, according to the Daily Mail, relating to the investigation for sexual abuse of a minor targeting an Everton player. Police had said the player arrested by Greater Manchester Police last weekend (and later released) was a 31-year-old international. In the workforce of the Toffees, this could therefore only concern Delph, Gylfi Sigurdsson, or even Robin Olsen (currently on vacation after the Euro).
This is not the former Aston Villa and Manchester City player. “It’s extremely unfortunate for Fabian, one of his relatives told The Sun. He is completely innocent and was drawn into this case by the club’s decision not to name the other player, which directly led to the spread of rumors on unregulated websites and social media. “
It is for legal reasons that the name of the suspect was not communicated by the police. Soon, suspicion fell mainly on Sigurdsson, because his wife has deleted her accounts on social networks in recent days. The Icelandic press then confirmed that it was indeed Sigurdsson. Everton, without naming him, only indicated that the player suspected by the police had been suspended until further notice.
This is an Everton player, the club confirmed in a statement posted on its website.
Only two players are 31 years old: Fabian Delph and Gylfi Sigurdsson. https://t.co/mkKLuqS4wq
