Toulouse’s Antoine Dupont, Jerome Kaino and Julien Marchand, and Rochelais Grégory Alldritt and Will Skelton are nominated for the title of player of the year in the Champions Cup.
The Champions Cup final will pit two French clubs against each other this season, and it is logically five players playing in these two teams who are nominated to be crowned player of the year in the biggest European rugby competition. They are Toulouse-based Antoine Dupont (4 games, 4 tries), Jerome Kaino (3 games) and Julien Marchand (3 games, 1 try), and Rochelais Grégory Alldritt (4 games, 2 tries) and Will Skelton (4 matches, 1 try). Fifteen players were nominated at the start and they are now five, following the choices made by a jury of experts (Erik Bonneval from bein Sports, Bryan Habana from Channel 4, Sonja McLaughlan from BBC Radio 5 Live, Alan Quinlan from Virgin media and Dimitri Yachvili from France Televisions) and 20,000 fans who voted online.Voting is open again on the EPCR website, and the lucky winner will receive his trophy (baptized Anthony Foley, named after the Munster coach who died suddenly at the age of 42 in 2016 before a match against Racing 92) at the ‘after the final on May 22 at Twickenham. It remains to be seen whether the winner will play for the victorious team and will therefore sign a magnificent double, or for the beaten team and will therefore receive a consolation prize …

Who to succeed Nakarawa?
Anyway, this will be the fifth time that a player from a French club will receive this trophy created in 2010, after Jonny Wilkinson in 2013 with Toulon, Steffon Armitage in 2014 with Toulon, Nick Abendanon in 2015 with Clermont and Leone Nakarawa in 2018 with Racing 92.
