Canal + has lost its battle against the Professional Football League. The competition authority has indeed announced in a press release that it has rejected the encrypted channel’s complaint against the LFP for “An abuse of a dominant position by releasing on the market only the rights returned by Mediapro, without including the rights corresponding to lot 3 (Saturday 9 p.m. and Sunday 5 p.m. matches) awarded on May 29, 2018 to beIN Sports which had sub- subsequently dismissed from the Canal Plus Group. “
“At the end of its examination, the Authority rejected the referral to the merits of GCP and the associated request for provisional measures, considering that they were not accompanied by sufficiently convincing elements”, said this press release.
The conflict between Canal + and the LFP now resolved, the allocation of TV rights should be able to take place this Friday. The encrypted channel is expected to get the main posters while beIN is expected to broadcast the rest of the matches.
