Euro 2020 kicked off on Friday evening in Rome with a lively opening ceremony.
Football enthusiasts were impatiently awaiting this: Euro 2020 started (a year late) this Friday, with a clash between theItaly and Turkey, at the Olympic Stadium in Rome, 25% filled. A mini-concert served as the opening ceremony.
Martin Garrix and the group U2 (The Edge was with the Dutch DJ, while Bono was in hologram) performed the tournament song, We Are the People. It was not a success. On the other hand, the Nessun slept sung by Andrea Bocelli was magnificent and delighted all viewers.
The Italian tenor took up this emblematic aria from Giacomo Puccini’s opera Turandot. Luciano Pavarotti, he had sung Nessun slept during the opening ceremony of the World Cup 90, in Rome, already, as well as before the Winter Olympics in Turin in 2006.
