Argentina did not flare up on Monday against Paraguay (1-0). The Albiceleste has nonetheless validated its qualification for the quarter-finals.
Argentina have struggled to convince since the start of the Copa America. After a draw against Chile in the opening (1-1) then a minimalist victory (1-0) against Uruguay, Luis Scaloni’s men were again content with the minimum on Monday for their third match.
Opposed to Paraguay, the Albiceleste delivered any performance but did not win less 1-0. The Argentines had however launched the meeting perfectly since a goal from Papu Gomez in the 10e minute allowed them to quickly take the lead.
This success is nevertheless sufficient to the happiness of Argentina since with seven points on the clock, it is now guaranteed to participate in the quarterfinals of the competition. Anything but one performance, with four of the five teams from each group qualifying.
In the other meeting on the program, Uruguay and Chile parted back to back (1-1), with goals signed by Eduardo Vargas and Arturo Vidal against his camp.
