Chelsea take Premier League leadership 

Frank Lampard’s men won without difficulty in Newcastle (0-2) on Saturday and put pressure on their Premier League competitors.

Yes Thiago silva, back from the Brazilian selection, was left to rest by “Lamps”, 3 days away from facing Rennes in the Champions League, Chelsea left Newcastle no chance on Saturday. The Blues had to win as Liverpool and Leicester clash and Tottenham challenge Manchester City on the 9th day of the Premier League. They did it (0-2) and temporarily take the lead in the standings ahead of the Foxes on goal difference.

Werner misses the mark, but …

There was no CFC goal festival at St James’s Park, but the visitors controlled the game from start to finish (71% possession, 14 strikes attempted, one shot on target for the Magpies). After an unfortunate csc from Fazio Fernandez (10th), on a cross from Mason Mount, Timo werner missed several opportunities, missing the target or falling on the excellent Karl Darlow.

Untenable, the German striker however offered the second goal to Tammy Abraham, going up all the field before serving his English teammate perfectly (65th). Olivier Giroud was satisfied with the last 5 minutes of the game, while Edouard Mendy again produced a clean sheet, Kurt Zouma was imperial alongside Antonio Rudiger and N’Golo Kanté was very active in the middle battle. This collective is good.
